The annual fundraising concert of the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, 'Liza & Friends', has always been well-received by music lovers. Entering its seventh year, the concert will be held on Saturday, 10 January 2026, at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall. The concert will once again be led by Liza Wang, together with Mr. Jasper Tsang as the Co-chairpersons of the Fundraising Committee, joined by a group of political, business, and artistic elites and friends. They will showcase their vocal talents and raise funds for the development of Chinese music in Hong Kong. The concert programme is diverse, ranging from classic Cantonese operatic songs to newly arranged popular Chinese music, featuring a star-studded lineup that will bring surprising cross-genre collaborations to the audience.
Conducted by Choosey Cheung, Assistant Artistic Director and Permanent Conductor of the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, the concert boasts a brilliant lineup of performers, including Liza Wang, Jasper Tsang, Wan Fei-yin, Wan Kwan-yuet, Koo Sing Fai, Lam Wing-sze, Andrew Chan, Ngan Ka-lok, Chau Hiu Ching, Alpine Chorus, Chuang Chan-ming, Kwok Chun-hang, Ng Yau-ching, Lau Shek Yau John, Choi Tak-yee, Tai Sai Ho, and Patrick Tam, who will perform together with the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra.
Liza will perform several classic songs at the concert, including 'Love Knows No Boundaries' in a duet with Ng Yau-ching, and 'Brave Chinese' with Patrick Tam. In addition, the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra specially invited Hong Kong composer, Ng Cheuk-yin, to create three songs combining Ci (song lyrics) and Chinese music for Liza, and MV shootings. This time, 'Qing Yu An. Yuan Xi' by Xin Qiji and 'Die Lian Hua. Chun Jing' by Su Shi were specially selected for the concert performance with the orchestra.
The Cantonese opera segment is equally captivating. Jasper Tsang and Kwok Chun-hang, a Cantonese opera actor, will perform the excerpt 'Alliance to Defeat Cao' from 'Romance of the Three Kingdoms', showcasing the exciting episodes through their singing and adding a touch of operatic charm to the programme. Moreover, renowned Cantonese opera performer Wan Fei-yin will present the classic 'Flower Mulan Laments the Moon', which was her signature piece when she first became the leading actress and was performed at the Sunbeam Theatre, marking a significant turning point in her artistic career.
Lau Shek Yau John and Choi Tak-yee will join hands to recreate the touching love story of 'Di Qing Breaks the Three Barriers to Guess the Heart' between General Di Qing and Princess Shuangyang. Lam Wing-sze, Andrew Chan, Ngan Ka-lok, and Chau Hiu Ching will present 'The Wedding' from the East-meets-West opera 'Biyi Moonless', a fusion of Italian opera and Cantonese opera, showcasing the allure of both artistic forms.
